The Caran d'Ache Technik Eraser is a precision correction tool built specifically for technical drafting and graphite illustration work. The non-abrasive synthetic compound lifts graphite and carbon marks cleanly from paper fibers with minimal pressure — without scuffing, thinning, or tearing the surface. Ink lines are left completely untouched, making it the right tool for workflows where pencil layout lines need to be removed after inking without disturbing the final line work underneath.

Debris generation is minimal — the compound rolls together cleanly rather than producing powdery crumbs that smear graphite across the drawing surface. Phthalate-free and non-toxic. Safe for use on delicate papers including tracing paper, vellum, and high-cotton illustration boards. The rectangular block format is wrapped in a branded paper sleeve that protects the erasing edge from skin oils, preserving eraser performance over time. Manufacturer reference: 171.420.

FAQ
  • Will this eraser remove ink lines? No. The Technik Eraser is formulated to lift graphite and carbon marks only. Ink lines — including fineliner, technical pen, and drawing ink — are left completely untouched.
  • Is it safe to use on delicate papers like tracing paper or vellum? Yes. The non-abrasive formula erases cleanly without scuffing, thinning, or tearing delicate paper surfaces, making it suitable for technical drafting on tracing paper and vellum as well as standard illustration boards.
  • Does it leave a lot of eraser debris on the drawing surface? No. The compound is formulated to roll together smoothly during erasing, producing very little debris and preventing the graphite smearing that powdery erasers can cause on detailed drawings.
  • Why does the eraser come wrapped in a paper sleeve? The paper sleeve protects the erasing surface from skin oils during handling. Skin oils can reduce eraser effectiveness over time — keeping the sleeve on until the erasing edge is needed preserves full performance.
