Mitsubishi Pencil Company has been making writing instruments in Tokyo since 1887 — completely independent from the Mitsubishi industrial group despite sharing the name and logo. The Uni brand launched in 1958 and has since become one of Japan's most respected stationery names, built on a track record of genuine engineering firsts: water-resistant pigment Super Ink, and the Kuru Toga auto-rotating mechanical pencil that keeps the lead tip conical by rotating it slightly with every lift off the page.
